Kiss Between Two Female Characters in “Mysticons” Might be Cut
By: Dylan Hysen
A scene featuring a kiss between two female characters in Mysticons is in danger of being cut due to pushback from the show’s sponsors, an anonymous source close to the show has confirmed to Overly Animated. The proposed scene comes late in the show’s current 40 episode run. Two versions of the episode have been fully animated, one with and without the kiss. Either way the people behind the show hope the romantic intentions are clear, as the episode also features a declaration of love between the two female characters. The final decision on whether the kiss will air or not is still to be made and comes down to the show’s sponsors.

Yah maybe moonboon because zarya and arkayna are sisters
The only one who didn’t have a interest guy or starmate is zarya I’m sure piper won’t because she’s only interested at having fun
Why do some companies see a kiss like that as a bad thing? When will we start to treat this as normal not ABNORMAL?!

I really hope it has to do with Zarya and Arkayna, because they’re my favourite ship in Mysticons. 🙂
Wow this is nuts.. I mean if it is already fully animated I’m sure the scene will be released online if not on broadcast television, but on principle, the decision to air it shouldn’t even be a question. It’s crazy that we are supposedly living within the most progressive decade of all time, yet displaying openly gay characters is still heavily censored in children’s programming.
I’m glad that the creators are proactive in including diverse characters throughout the series. Ultimately, whether or not the scene is broadcasted is not up to them, but I hope that they are fighting for it to happen. Airing it would be a HUGE step forward for television animation, along with children’s programming as a whole.
