for the theory of evil Morty’s origins, in the Get Schwifty episode, Morty steals Ricks portal gun and finds himself on Birdperson’s planet. While at Birdoerson’s home Morty sees a picture of a younger Rick holding a baby that looks like it could be a baby Morty? Morty asks “who’s that baby?”, as if he doesn’t recognize that its him?
So here’s the theory, the baby is Evil Morty, the original Morty C137. Rick didn’t actually invent the portal gun until after Morty was born and a young original (evil)Morty C137 was lost in a freak portal accident before Rick could perfect the formula and therefore had no way of knowing where Morty was sent (all other Morty’s were NOT lost in a portal accident and remained with their Ricks). Rick is a dick, but he still loves his daughter and didn’t want her to suffer the loss of another family member after losing her mom. So before Beth finds out, Rick creates a quick clone of Morty and “programs” his with basic memories to pass as a normal human. So the Morty we know actually has no memory of his life before being created.
Meanwhile, original Morty C137 is trasnported to a Schrödinger’s cat-filled dimension (from A Rickle in Time)that both does and does not exist. From there he can see how all the Ricks treat their Morty’s like crap and only care about themselves and leaves a wake of remorseful destruction behind him in his adventures across the universe.
While in this Schrödinger’s dimension, Morty C137 can view the past and present of all Rick/Morty’s, and he learns everything that Rick knows and begins to plan his revenge. When Rick and the Morty we know enter then escape the Schrödinger’s dimension, they leave a space/time scar that lingers long enough for the now Evil Morty used to escape into the demention where the “evil” Rick from Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind lived, killed Morty, then killed the Rick and replaced him with a robot while he puts his plans in motion to “save” the universes from Rick
Yeah the baby Morty photo is what I read. Schrödinger’s dimension stuff I haven’t seen, is interesting.
I thought this episode was great! The citadel is very different than I thought it would be. I pictured it as more of an association that helps Ricks out when they’re having problems with weekly meetings or something, and that C137 was against it just because he’s not a joiner. Now that we see what it’s like, it’s no wonder he didn’t join. It goes to show that there must be a lot of variation in Ricks’ characters, because we know our Rick would never put up with being a factory worker or taxi driver. My one question is what happened to all of the Beths, Jerrys, and Summers.
