The idea of the Rose Quartzes being made for to be the zookeepers gave me a couple thoughts.
1) Roses ability to control plants (why would gems ever interact with plants) could be a way tending the ecosystem in the zoo.
2) Crack theory. Is it possible that Pink Diamond also made them with the ability to potentially mate with humans? That would certainly explain Steven, and also explain Rose’s uncharacteristic attraction to men. ( see “It’s over isn’t it”)
It’s also interesting that when we were shown the zoo we specifically saw “The Choosening” a compulsory mating ritual.
This could potentially make Roses rebellion all about asserting her reproductive rights. (Though that would definitely be retconning)
