Also one opinion: pork is present because you can’t have sushi for Ponyo to eat because it’s fish obviously?
Also Ponyo is very close to Brünnhilde in The Ring of the Nibelung, Wagner’s opera. She is a Walkyrie who disobeys her father unlike her sisters.
