Also, watching the promo at the end of the episode: what on earth could Steven have said that made Blue Diamond want to attack him – she’s been the most delighted to have Pink Diamond back … perhaps Steven said he wasn’t going to revert back to Pink Diamond?.
It seems Diamonds can project across the galaxy into creatures they have imbued with their being (which suggests Steven might alternatively have possessed Lion). So White Diamond could have been able to view past events on Earth (as has been hinted) through Steven (if she created the other Diamonds), Pearl (as her former Pearl she might have been created by WD – and she seems able to possess Pearls) or someone else (I’m afraid, given his outbursts where he talks of the Diamond Authority etc in season one, Ronaldo is a prime suspect!).
I think this episode was a good reminder that the Homeworld visit was for Earth—specifically, to heal the corrupted gems there.
Maybe it could’ve been done better, but I was really impressed with the organic, colorful visuals of the island and how that contrasted so heavily with the sharp-angled, monotone Homeworld. Even the music was noticeably more “human”—there was a specific emphasis on acoustics.
I think this episode is under appreciated, I think this episode is freaking awesome.
Hot Take this episode is better than “Together Alone”.
I was watching an old silent cartoon from the 1920’s the other day, and this episode does feel like like a love article to the really old school cartoons.
Two weeks from now, we will have Lapis and Peridot’s return with new designs.
If we going to have some Earth reinforcements, you know who we have to bring, Onion. The real White Diamond.
