It is said in these two episodes that they want the power of alchemy so that they can make Lotor’s ships like Voltron, so they can travel between realities.
The producers have called Allura a teenager in past interviews. And Lauren Montgomery has said that she doesn’t like the Lotor/Allura relationship.
